In a larger sample, the lefty struggled a little more. Angel Zerpa looked impressive for the Kansas City Royals in 2021 and 2022, despite only pitching a handful of innings.
Take that, defending champs. Angel Zerpa was fantastic in a long relief outing where he pitched four innings with five strikeouts, allowing one walk and one run in a 4-2 win over the Astros Friday night.
The bats were quiet once again Angel Zerpa shook off a tough start to post a solid outing, but Kansas City’s offense couldn’t keep up as Pittsburgh completed the sweep with a 4-1 victory.
The Kansas City Royals will turn to left-hander Angel Zerpa on Wednesday in their effort to avert a three-game series sweep against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates.

It was not a very good or fun baseball game Sometimes, there’s not just a whole lot of anything that’s good or interesting that happens for your team. Tonight was one of those nights, as the Los Angeles Angels soundly beat the Kansas City Royals 6-0 in a bit of a snoozefest for Royals fans.
Also coming to the Majors are catcher Sebastian Rivero, infielder Maikel Garcia and lefty Angel Zerpa. Additionally, the Royals selected infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton, catcher Freddy Fermin, outfielder Brewer Hicklen and infielder Michael Massey.

The offense left 22 men on base. Yikes. At one point, Kansas City hadn’t beat Cleveland in over four months, losing 12 straight games to the future Guardians.
Zerpa has a 4.58 ERA in 88 1/3 minor league innings this year.
The 22-year old lefty becomes the latest Royals rookie to make his debut. Royals manager Mike Matheny announced that the club will call up and start left-hander Angel Zerpa on Thursday against the Indians.
